Preschool Room
In our preschool program we use all ‘teachable moments’ to focus on developing independence, self help skills, social/emotional and cognitive skills. We encourage positive reinforcement through helping them to work through their differences by using appropriate language to express what they are feeling. They are encouraged to develop their self-help skills by self-serving meals and snacks, getting ready for outdoor play, cooperating with their peers through sharing toys, helping each other, and showing respect for each other and the environment. We also plan experiences for basic math concepts, science, printing and reading readiness skills (letter recognition, numbers, shapes, colours, etc.). Program Plans are written weekly with information on the individually planned experiences that are made available to your child each day.
A monthly calendar gives an overview of trips, special experiences such as baking, Show and Tell, Enriched Program, birthday celebrations, messages and reminders. A copy of the calendar will be sent home at the beginning of each month.
We feel that communication between the parents and staff is very important. If there is anything regarding your child that you would like us to know (had a bad night, woke up early, has a cough, someone different will be picking him/her up, etc.) please let us know so we could provide the extra support for your children.
