Our Team

Yonge Hearts’ dedicated and caring teachers are trained and skilled in the child care field. Many of our teachers are Registered Early Childhood Educators in good standing, and all teachers have current CPR and First Aid training. Every year the staff at Yonge Hearts attend workshops and other training opportunities so that they have recent and up-to-date knowledge of child development. The centre also provides group trainings which allow staff to enhance the experiences they provide to the children, including children with a variety of developmental needs.

We use child guidance techniques such as labelling emotions, problem solving, giving choice, negotiating and redirecting to foster a child’s sense of self worth, as well as respect for self, others and the environment. The staff at Yonge Hearts work very hard to observe and program for each child every week ensuring that children are provided with experiences that stimulate learning based on their development. The staff at Yonge Hearts are familiar with the ELECT document and the foundations of How Does Learning Happen? (Ontario, 2014). How Does Learning Happen? is a provincial document used as a resource guide for centres working with children and families. The four foundations are Belonging, Well-Being, Engagement and Expression (How Does Learning Happen?, page 7). All are vital to Early Childhood Educators when working with children and their families.

At Yonge Hearts we value the contributions from our teachers and are proud of our low turnover rate. If you are interested in a position at Yonge Hearts email your cover letter and resume to director@yongehearts.ca.
