Director’s Message

THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN YONGE HEARTS CHILD CARE CENTRE!

This is a very special place. We are proud to work closely with the families enrolled to provide a warm, nurturing and safe environment for their children. At Yonge Hearts, we know that we are lucky to spend our days here. I enjoy seeing the children grow and develop, watching friendships form, and hearing the laughter in the classrooms. Providing excellent care goes beyond providing excellent programs. It takes heart to create a special place for children — and we have it here at Yonge Hearts Child Care Centre!

WHAT PARENTS SAY ABOUT US

Program Statement

WHAT IS OUR GOAL

As part of providing a quality program we are following the regulations of the Child Care and Early Years Act 2014. How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years 2014 (HDLH) is used as a guideline for licensed child care programs. HDLH views children as competent, capable, curious and rich in potential. The foundations of learning are belonging, well-being, engagement and expression. For more information on this please go to http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/childcare/pedagogy.html.

At Yonge Hearts we believe that children learn through play. It is through play that they have the opportunity to initiate their own experiences, engage in communication with their peers and staff and explore different materials provided in the environment. Yonge Hearts has the following goals and approaches to meeting the needs of all the children in the centre:

                                    -promote health, safety, nutrition

-support positive and responsive interactions

-encourage positive communication and self-regulation

-foster exploration, play and inquiry

-provide child-initiated experiences and adult support

-plan for positive learning environments to support development

-provide a variety of experiences throughout the day

-communicate effectively

-engage with the community

-take part in professional learning and centre evaluation

More information can be found in the Yonge Hearts Child Care Parent Handbook. This is available on our website in the “Parents” tab under “Policies” or it is available at the centre.
